I personally would like to see incentives for people who drive hybrid cars, because right now there are no incentives if you lease one, and very little incentive if you buy one, even taking into account higher MPG. You still end up having to pay more than for an equivalent pure gas car.

I am tired already of these candidates claiming “clean coal” and nuclear as legitimate alternative energy sources. Stop saying “clean, alternative energy” and talk about something real. Solar? Wind? That is what we need. The only thing that will halt global warming and really put us on the path to sustainable self-sufficient future is truly renewable energies - solar, wind, plug-in hybrid vehicles. What about a cap on carbon emissions? Come on Hillary, don’t take us for fools…

Your policy on Global Warming is brave and motivating!! I’d like to see the U.S. become the leader in the use of alternative energy and boost our economy through environmental responsibility!

Get specific about WHAT KIND OF ALTERNATIVE ENERGY?? You need to look into HEMP!!! It’s already been researched. HEMP IS THE ANSWER! Have the guts to talk about it…

There is at least one sane person left in this country.

Forcing oil companies to invest or contribute to the strategic energy fund will force them to pass the cost on to the consumers, raising gas prices. So instead of our money going directly to the fund through taxation, it will pass through the oil companies first. The point is that the money will still be coming out of our pockets into the fund. Sounds like a tax to me.
TheChangReaction on Mon, 23rd Mar 2009 1:07 pm
well in the oil company’s case its pretty much like asking them to raise their hand. A few million bucks probably looks like child’s play to them

Hillary as an expert in the Renewable Energy Field, I have found that 99% of the folks you talk to have no idea what Renewable or Alternative Energy is. So at this point education, not higher ed. but all the way down to the lowest level possible is extremely critical. Promote Science Fairs, and teach our younger kids early and continue to do so at each grade level. Want some help, I am available, So right now we need to start developing younger minds to think and Renewable Energy.

Yes - it is wrong for the big western Oil Companies to continuously manipulate/violate laws to expolit so many countries - and WORKERS around the world, when so few profit. Even Shareholders have been royally ripped off. Workers and natural resources create the wealth, and deserve decent treatment, and a fair share of return. That is the democratic policy for which Hillary stands.
IMO, as a Consultant working with Renewables technology inventors, the best is yet to come!

Good point, and as always it is the citizen experts in each area who need to take the lead to demonstrate solutions, that the Feds empower on a largr scale. Emerging solutions could use MUCH more start-up biz and R & D Funding, that protects intellectual property.
Regarding Bio-Fuels, have you seen the new Canola based fuel? Made from the bean (not from oil) it, can mix w/reguar gas to 50%. A BIG new power plant in LA, is planned.

Diverse voices talking together can help deliver good policy. Posting to an open discussion forum is evidence that Hill and team value and trust citizens to engage in civil discourse.
Perhaps you can suggest what tweaks in Federal energy policy might help YOUR state economy and health best, so the rest of us inthe conversation - and the Clinton/Obama team when they are able to review our content - can help the Congress authorize something to approximate your solution?

Don’t be ridiculous. The energy companies will claim they are working on such technologies and just drag their feet. Of course, you know this, which explains why you would put that loophole in there in the first place. Just demand an extra tax from the energy corporations and be done with it.
jeroid on Sun, 5th Apr 2009 1:11 pm
Those sound like good ideas. Do you plan to scale back nuclear power?
dredwolff on Tue, 7th Apr 2009 2:43 pm
This sounds like moving money from the oil companies to government pork barrel projects. We don’t need to reward efforts towards progress, we need to penalize lack of progress.I wont be convinced until she introduces a bill that increases the minimum MPG a fossil fuel-burning vehicle gets until we hit 40mpg by the end of 2017(the next 10yrs).This shouldn’t be hard, diesel VW jettas already get 45-50mpg.Necessity is the mother of innovation, not throwing money at people that want to be innovators.

We have choices on how much we spend on everything EXCEPT gas prices. WE the consumer have NO say in how much we pay and unfortunately, most of us can’t afford to buy the higher mpg cars being sold and we also can’t afford to not drive. Our hands are forced. We are all slaves to oil, so I say to Hillary, let’s go for it! It’s time the focus is brought back to the working American family and our kids’ futures.

We spend more money on garbage bags in this country than 90 other countries spend on everything. What we need is a change in attitude and heart before most people will even consider doing anything about global warming or accepting alternative fuels. The people in this country have been spoiled by technology and convenience changing that can’t be legislated. What do garbage bags have to do with this? If everyone cared about the Earth they would know the answer to that.

Yes, it is really her. Check out her “Let the Conversation Begin” series. She spent 1.5 hours (3 1/2 hour videos) answering emails. You can find it in her videos. To Mrs. Clinton, great job and keep up the great work. I love to the compliments being made by you about Barak Obama. The American people need unity to put our country back on the right track.

I’m not sure clean coal is the answer. What other technologies are to be included in this search for alternative energy besides clean coal and ethenol? What are you thoughts about ANWR?
PwnedbyCar on Tue, 14th Apr 2009 2:38 pm
Thanks for shortening the videos! 30 minutes was a bit long.

I agree with you exactly. If the oil companies aren’t going to contribute to an effort to endorce alternative fuel sources, then they need to be hurt financially.
This is not simply oil companies hurting our economy or disagreeing with our goals, it is the oil companies destroying our planet, and that is something that just can’t be forwarded.
